Cross Flow Induced Draft Cooling Tower Points : cross flow induced draft cooling tower In a cross flow tower as shown in the figure (2), the fan is also located down steam from the fill the top exit. The fill is installed at the same level as the air in take. Air enters the tower from the fill and the drift eliminator. Air is then turned upwards and finally discharged at the top exit. Water sprays from the nozzles falls across the fill and forms a cross flow arrangement with the air stream.

The cross flow induced draft cooling tower has a greater air intakes area because of the cross flow arrangements the tower can be considerably lower the counter flow tower. However the risk of recirculation of tower exhaust air increases.
