Pre Combustion Chambers

Pre Combustion Chambers Points : pre combustion chambers, the problems related to combustion chambers, problems in internal combustion engines, ic, engine, auto diesel A pre-combustion chamber is commonly used in automotive diesel engines. It is similar in shape to a stratified charge chamber for a gasoline engine. Also called DIESEL PRECHAMBER, it is used to quiet engine operation and to allow the use of a glow plug (heating element) to aid cold weather starting. See figure below.

Besides pre-combustion chamber following three other types of combustion chambers are also used in automotive diesel engines:
1. Open combustion chambers (direct-injection)
2. Turbulence chambers and
3. Energy cell or air cell chambers
