Identification of Engine Intake Leakage

Identification of Intake Leakage Points : Identification of Intake Leakage, Identification of Engine Smoking, Identification of diesel engine, exhaust smoke may be:, Identification of a gasoline engine,, exhaust smoke may be, Problems in Internal Combustion Engine Engine intake (or vacuum leaks) show up during inspection as a hissing sound, like air leaking out of a tire. Vacuum leaks are loudest at idle and temporarily quiet down as the engine is accelerated (manifold vacuum drops with engine acceleration). Very rough engine idling usually accompanies a vacuum leak. Engine Smoking Engine smoking is normally noticed at the tailpipe when the engine is accelerated or decelerated. The color of the smoke can he used to help diagnose the source of the problem. With a gasoline engine, exhaust smoke may be 1. blue-gray smoke (indicated motor oil is entering combustion chambers. (may be due to worn rings, Worn cylinders leaking valve stem seals, or other troubles.)
2. Black smoke (caused by extremely rich air-fuel mixture not an engine mechanical problem).
3. white smoke (if not water condensation ‘on cool day, may be due to internal coolant leak into cylinder;).
With a diesel engine, exhaust smoke may be: 1. Blue smoke (oil entering combustion chambers and being burned because of ring, cylinder or valve seal problems).
2. black smoke (injection system problem compression keeping fuel from burning).
3. white smoke (unburned fuel, cold engine. or coolant leaking into combustion chambers).
