Often insufficient care is taken in fitting the gasket and in tightening down the cylinder-head nuts. If it occurs at the narrow section of gasket between two cylinders it is more difficult to trace out.

Surface Warpage The gasket surface if not flat is a common cause of gasket failure. Always check for warpage when servicing a bad gasket.
