Development of Hydraulics & Significance
Points : development of hydraulics & significance
It will be interesting to know as to how early the man had been curious to know about the earth and the various
processes going on it. As a matter of fact, since the dim ages of pre-historic times, the man has been practicing
the art of engineering. And he started erecting very simple and ordinary types of structures (e.g., digging wells
and making water courses for water supply and irrigation purposes) for his livelihood. With the passage of time
the man, entirely on the basis of his practical experience and common-sense, created a few thumb rules to serve as
a guide for erecting very ordinary types of structures.
It is only since the human progress had reached its revolutionary height, we call the dawn of civilization, the
man actually started to design and build the structures according to his requirements. Since then, the man had
been very eager to know more and more about the various aspects f his structures, especially regarding their uses
and smooth workability. Experience taught him, and he continued to make progress in the art of engineering bit by
bit.
