Effect of Types of Combustion Chamber and Detonation
Points : effect of types of combustion chamber and detonation, the factors that effect the spark knock, the factors that effect the detonation, problems in internal combustion engines, ic, engine, auto diesel
The shape of the combustion chamber has an important bearing upon the out put and thermal efficiency of the
engine.
The shape depends upon the location of the valves. If the valves are in the cylinder head, it is possible to
approximate to the ideal spherical shape.
The side-by-side valve engine (Fig) is very widely used in light and medium cars as it is economical to Construct
and is easily accessible. The turbulence promoted in this type is not as satisfactory as in the overhead types.
The ‘T’ head is now obsolete; it is bulky, inefficient and expensive to produce.
